INSTALL METHOD SINGLE / DOUBLE BRACKETS ONTO A BRICK MASONRY WALL

Step 1

Inspect wall to ensure there are no loose bricks or holes where brackets are likely to be placed. If so, repair and allow cement one week to mature.

 Step 2

Place wall mounting brackets 1m to 1,5m apart. Drill one hole on either side of the bracket with a 6mm drill bit. Mark the location of the holes on the top of the wall.

Step 3

Using a good quality 6mm concrete drill bit and hammer drill on slow speed, carefully drill the holes to the correct depth to hold the zinc anchor. Blow out dust from the holes.

 Step 4

Put the bracket in place and insert the fixing anchors into the holes. Be sure to position the anchor in such a way that the force of the pin splitting faces the widest part of the brick, thereby preventing splitting or cracking. Use a hammer and if necessary a long bolt to hit the pin until it fits firmly into the sheath.

 Step 5

Working from the farthest end, push the 21mm galvanized tubing through the eye of the first bracket, threading on the rotating stars as you push it towards the next bracket. Never fit too many stars onto the tubing that they cannot rotate freely.

 Step 6

Always leave space for one or more stars at the end of tubing next to the mounting bracket and end cap.

 Step 7

Hammer in the end cap to secure system.

 Step 8

Ensure there is a bracket where the tubing is joined half way and rivet/hex screw into bracket for extra strength and to prevent tubes from moving.

INSTALLING SINGLE BRACKETS ONTO A PRECAST CONCRETE WALL

 Step 1

Inspect wall to ensure there are no loose or damaged panels. Repair if necessary.

Step 2

Place mounting brackets 1m to 1,5m apart. Drill one hole straight through the base of the bracket and place over a panel on the wall.

Step 3

Using a good quality 6mm or 7mm concrete drill bit and hammer drill on slow speed, carefully drill the holes through the wall panel. Insert the shear-bolt and tighten until the nut dislodges.

Step 4

Working from the farthest end, push the 21mm galvanized tubing through the eye of the first bracket, threading on the rotating stars as you push it towards the next bracket. Never fit too many stars onto the tubing that they cannot rotate freely unless trim one or both sides of star with an angle grinder for neat fitting.

Step 5

Always leave space for one or more stars at the end of the tubing next to the end bracket.

Step 6

Hammer in the end cap piece to secure system.

Step 7

Ensure there is a bracket where the tubing is joined half way and rivet/hex screw into bracket for extra strength and to prevent tubes from moving.

 Please advise:

Rola spikes are manufactured to fit most types of walls as well as palisade/wooden/steel/plaster fences. Every property is different therefore every installation is different, should there be any columns or zig zap shaped type of walls, these will require more brackets and end caps together with anchors.

Our user friendly Rola spikes are easy to install, easy to adjust and pre-prep by threading the spikes onto the tube, then rivet the brackets before mounting onto the wall for drilling vice versa. Just ensure the measurements are correct, before cutting the tube.

Should you get your 21mm round steel tube (see sample in box) from your local supplier, please ensure where steel is cut use an anti-rust product paint to seal it for longer lasting steel. Galvanized steel lasts longer and is protected against rust. Our spikes are made to last for more than 10 years and if installed properly onto a good quality wall then you don't have to worry about maintenance. Get it right 1st time round.

Steel tubes normally come in 6m lengths which can be cut into 3m. On a 3m tube you must place the bracket at 1.5m instead of 1m or either way depending on the wall length. Please beware of cheap imitations as Rola spikes are specially lab tested to last over 10 years.
